Choose to eat this with a fork, or your hands. Either way, it’ll taste amazing! For those mornings where you are craving all the good breakfast foods, but have no desire to dirty pans and make a mess, this all in one breakfast tart is perfect. In just one bite you get your eggs, sausage, maple syrup, and a delicious buttery croissant crust.
For this recipe, I used a package of Pillsbury crescent dough sheet, Morning Star Farms maple flavored sausage patties (crumbled up), eggs and sriracha. I used plant-based sausage for my recipe, but you can absolutely use whichever type of sausage you’d like. But if you are looking for a delicious vegetarian sausage…my absolute favorite is the Morning Star Farms maple flavored sausage patties. So good!
Let’s talk a little bit about this sauce. It is a simple mixture of 100% pure maple syrup and sriracha. It is a really great flavor combination. If you are one who likes to add a little spice on top of your eggs, this sauce is calling your name. If you aren’t a fan of spicy/hot sauce, you can just drizzle maple syrup on top.
I’m glad I came across these premade crescent sheets. I’m not sure if I’m just late to the game or if these things are new, but they are great! I used to buy the crescent rolls and id’ have to smush together the perforated lines to make a solid full sheet.
When you put your dough sheet on the baking sheet, you want to make sure to create a little folded up wall all along the border just so the eggs won’t run off the sides.
When adding your eggs, you really have no control over where they land…so let them do what they want. I realized this when I was trying to push one egg over more to the corner to spread them out evenly. But you will just be fighting a losing battle.
To make things easier, I always crack my eggs in a small bowl before I add it to anything, just in case there is a tiny shell. Shells not wanted!
The sausage that I used crumbled very nicely after it was done cooking. Whatever type of sausage you use, make sure its a good crumbly one.
This recipe would be perfect for Christmas morning! If you are feeding a handful of people, it is so so easy and like I said very little cleanup. Just double or triple the recipe. This recipe feeds 2-3 people. I guess it all depends on how hungry you and your guests are!
