Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

These homemade chocolate peanut butter cups are to die for! Rich, decadent chocolate covers a delicious and creamy peanut butter center. They are so easy to make!

When you think of a chocolate peanut butter cup, you think Reese’s. At least I do. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love me some Reese’s peanut butter cups. But lately, after hearing about this one particular ingredient that Reese’s puts in their peanut butter cups, called TBHQ, it had me wondering…”ummm, why?!”. Thats where these homemade chocolate peanut butter cups come in!

It says on the ingredients list that it’s a preservative. But when I read about TBHQ, and learnt that it’s highly toxic, and made from butane, which is a highly toxic gas used in lighter fluid, it definitely turned me away from wanting to enjoy Reese’s peanut butter cups as much.

I found a recipe for homemade chocolate peanut butter cups, and they are delicious! I didn’t even miss the taste of a Reese’s peanut butter cup, honestly!

The best part is, no TBHQ!! If I had kids, I wouldn’t want to be feeding that chemical to them, or myself. But I would hate to deprive myself from the goodness of a peanut butter cup.

These Chocolate peanut butter cups are so easy to make, using only 6 simple ingredients. Obviously, just like any sweet treat, these are great to enjoy in moderation. They do still have sugar and saturated fat, from the chocolate chips, but good fats from the coconut oil!

So do yourself s favor, and try these guys out. If you like them that much, which I’m sure you will…you can say goodbye to the toxic ingredients in Reese’s peanut butter cups!

  • In the meantime, in another large measuring cup with spout, add peanut butter, powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons coconut oil. Heat in microwave for 30 second intervals until pourable.
  • Take chocolate in muffin tins out of freezer, and pour peanut butter mixture evenly in each muffin tin. Make sure to spread the entire serving evenly in each liner.
