Slow Cooker Homemade Dog Food
This slow cooker homemade dog food recipe is super easy, using only simple and whole ingredients. Your fur love will appreciate it! I know mine did!

My dog is my world. He is my everything. Obviously I want to feed him the best ingredients, especially as he gets older. My fur boy will be 10 this December! I want to make sure he’s getting the right nutrients, and zero additives.
Dogs taste buds are way different than our taste buds, clearly. So this recipe doesn’t require any seasoning of any type! Not to mention there are a lot of spices that dogs cant have. You can add some salt just to make it even more tastier, if your dog is a picky eater. Mason (my dog) loved it just the way it was. No salt added!
You want to make sure you put the rice in first after adding the water, just to make sure its soaking in the water while it’s cooking.
Then you can add all of your ingredients, cover and let it cook!
Mason had no idea that the food in the crockpot was for him. So when I said those magic words “Do you want some?” he automatically knew, and he did not want to leave the kitchen until he got to try his food!
If you’ve ever made a crockpot recipe, you know how piping hot the food is once its done. It takes forever to cool down!
I felt horrible, because he knew it was ready. Somehow, someway he knew. I had to let him try some, and quick! I know, I know…he’s one spoiled boy!
It was pretty cold last night, so I put the bowl I filled with his food outside, and thankfully it cooled down in like 5 minutes. Yes, he sat at the door and looked outside starring at his bowl of food. It was hilarious, yet sad at the same time!
When he finally got to try it, it was gone in about 15 seconds. He couldn’t get enough!!
I made sure to mark his bag of food with his name. Because if anyone were to touch it, I don’t want to know what Mason would have done to us!

Ingredients
- 1 lb. Ground Chicken, lean
- 1 Cup Butternut Squash, cubed can use frozen
- 1 Cup Carrots, cut into coins can use frozen
- 1 Cup Canned Green Beans can use frozen
- 1 Cup Canned Peas can use frozen
- 1 15 oz. Can of Kidney Beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 ½ Cups Brown Rice
- 1½ Cups Water
Instructions
- Add water to crockpot, followed by rice.
- Add the rest of the ingredients.
- Cover and let cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 6 hours.
