Martinis can be a tricky cocktail. Some can be super strong, or just super gross. You have to find one that works for you. And if you like watermelon, this watermelon martini is calling your name!
Its sweet, but not too sweet and has the perfect hint of watermelon! The elderflower liqueur compliments the watermelon flavor so well!
If you’ve never heard of, or have never used elderflower liqueur, I hope I encourage you to get a bottle and make some cocktails with it! It is so good, and is perfect for making summer time cocktails!
It has this perfect sweetness, and floral flavors. Its literally perfect! And can be mixed with a variety of other alcoholic beverages!
I want to talk a little bit about how I strained my watermelon juice. Of course, you can buy a bottle of fresh watermelon juice at the store. But those might have added sugar or added ingredients that don’t need to be there.
The best option is to buy a personal sized watermelon, cut it up into chunks, and either strain it with a mesh cloth bag, cheese cloth, OR a fine mesh strainer. Thats what I did. I took my fine mesh strainer, placed the chunks of watermelon in the strainer and just smushed them with a spoon and my hands. With the strainer over a bowl of course!
It’s incredible how much water is in a watermelon. Hmmm, the name is all making sense now!
When I made this martini, it was still a little early to start drinking, and obviously I didn’t want to waste it! I wasn’t about to drink it, while writing this post. Although that would have been entertaining for you to read!
I saved it in my shaker, and put it in my fridge to enjoy later. I cant wait!
If you make this martini, I hope you enjoy it!
