I know that almost anyone can agree that crockpot meals are their favorite during the fall and winter seasons. This slow cooker sweet potato stew is one that you can add to your crockpot recipe list!
Just like almost any crockpot recipe, this one is super hearty and warms the soul, while filling you up. I made this recipe when I had my parents over for dinner, and they loved it!
My top four favorite vegetables to use in crockpot recipes are onions, carrots, celery and sweet potatoes. They all give the best flavors and texture when slow cooked.
This recipe called for bullion cubes. I must say, whenever I see a recipe that calls for those cubes of sodium, I stay away. But, I found an awesome alternative. They have bullion packets, that are sodium free!! So, I used those and added salt to taste. It worked out just fine and added the perfect flavor!
As I mentioned my favorite vegetables to use for slow cooker recipes, my favorite meat to use is beef, for sure. The way it tastes when slow cooked in all of those amazing flavors, its the best!
Also, can someone please explain to me why you can’t eat bay leafs (because they are supposedly poisonous)…but we can use them for flavor? I never understood that!
