Caramelized Onion Dip

This caramelized onion dip is like no other! Chunks of soft, and sweet caramelized onions mixed with creamy sour cream and steak sauce. This dip is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser at any gathering!

Move over prepackaged powdered onion dip! This caramelized onion dip will put any other store bought onion dip to shame!

I know, already made dip or the pre made powder you mix with sour cream is way easier and quicker. But sometimes, saving a little time isn’t worth it, taste wise.

I’m guilty of buying the Lipton onion mix powder, and the helluva good already made dips. They are tasty! But they are also loaded with sodium, fat and lots of unwanted ingredients.

This dip is literally like no other. At least no other that I’ve ever had!

If you like onions, then you will absolutely love this dip. Theres nothing like using fresh onions in a dip, versus onion powder, or dried up onions, or onions that have been sitting in a tub of sour cream and preservatives for go only knows how long.

This dip has a lot of onions in it, and I mean, a lot! There are six cups worth of chopped onions. About 4 large onions.

That’s what makes this dip SO flavorful! Plus, onions decrease in size while they cook, like a lot of vegetables do.

As delicious as this dip is, it does take some time to make. But it’s easy. Just a little time consuming. And so so soooo worth it!

If you’ve caramelized onions before, you know that it takes a while. Its a slow and steady process, with a sweet and delicious outcome!

If you have the time to linger around your kitchen while the onions caramelize for a whopping 40 minutes, then you’re good! All you have to do is stir the onions around once in a while to prevent them from sticking or burning, and making sure each onion gets a turn.

The only main ingredients in this dip are onions, sour cream and steak sauce. And most of that flavor comes from the caramelized onions.

Yeah, sautéed onions are delicious and add great flavor. But its insane to me how much MORE flavor they get when they are caramelized!

I tried this dip while it was still warm, and I tried it when it chilled in the fridge over night. I must say that it tasted way better when it let it sit and chill. The flavors were way more potent the day after.

Look at that! Look at all of those caramelized onion chunks!

The dip that I made did not last more than 2 days in my household. I wanted my husband to try it, because he tries everything I make for my blog to get a second option, and he absolutely loved it! Clearly…because he finished it off!

If you make this recipe, I hope you enjoy it!
