Cinnamon Maple Marinated Baked Drumsticks

Cinnamon maple marinated baked drumsticks have the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The hint of cinnamon is the perfect flavor for this time of the year.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I think of making a chicken dish it’s usually chicken breast or chicken tenders. Like a lot of people, I overlook chicken drumsticks. I know they aren’t as healthy for you, but you can always take the skin off!

Marination is key for this recipe. That’s where all the flavors come in. The longer marination time, the better! This marinade I put together is so simple, and delicious. It’s not your typical bbq, cajun marinade. I wanted to use ingredients that you don’t typically use to marinade chicken. That’s the best part about cooking…No rules!

To marinade, you can use a bowl or a ziplock baggy. I use usually use a bag when I marinate food. It’s easy peasy, and you can just toss the bag when you’re done. One less thing to clean up.

You want to make sure to get that marinade on every piece of chicken and make sure each piece is soaking in for the most part.

Like I said before if you are looking to make this a healthier recipe, just take the skin off and you are cutting your fat intake by a lot! Or, you could always just cook the chicken with the skin on, and then take it off before you eat it. I think the skin gives the chicken meat a lot of flavors when it’s cooked.

I marinated my drumsticks for about 3-4 hours. As I said, the longer the better. If you happen to have all day to marinate them, go for it! You could prepare them the night before, let them sit all day long and then cook them that night.

When they are done baking, they will crisp up and turn a beautiful golden brown. You can eat them straight off the bone like a savage, or cut off the meat to make a delicious chicken salad or shredded chicken over rice. There is no wrong way to eat these delicious drumsticks. No matter how you eat them, they will be delicious!
