This meat loaf is not for those who don’t like a little spice to wake up their taste buds. The firecracker sauce does have a kick to it. It’s tolerable though. Im not a fan of spicy foods that leave your entire mouth numb and throbbing after eating it. This meatloaf won’t do that to you. Its the perfect level of spice!
My mouth actually started to tingle as I was making this sauce. Not sure if it was the spicy aromas I was smelling, or just the thought of tasting it. It looks way more spicier than it is. Don’t let the looks scare you!
The sauce consists of sriracha, red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes, paprika and brown sugar.
The brown sugar helps a lot with taming the spiciness. It adds a delicious sweet flavor to the sauce. That way your taste buds are a little distracted from the heat!
Don’t they say that spicy foods help you loose weight?? Bring it on!..
For the meatloaf, you want to mix together some ground turkey, an egg, Panko bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, Worcestershire sauce and salt/pepper to taste.
Meatloaf has always been a favorite go to of mine for dinner. Meatloaf does take some time to cook, but it’s so easy to prepare and make. You can get pretty creative with what you add in, or put on top!
For this meatloaf recipe, you want to make sure to make slits in the loaf, that way when you pour the firecracker sauce on top, it seeps down into the meat.
This is what it should look like after your pour the firecracker sauce on top of your turkey. don’t worry…it won’t stay as a pool of hot sauce. It will slowly bake into your meatloaf.
When your meatloaf is done, you want to let it sit for a good 15 minutes, to allow the juices and sauce to soak up.
The inside is nice and moist. Be careful to not overcook it so it doesn’t dry out! 1 hour and 15 minutes should be the perfect time.
Enjoy!
