The number of health benefits that ginger root has to offer are endless. I was never a fan of ginger, but my taste buds changed their mind for the best and now I can’t get enough of ginger! Of course the ginger they give you on the side with sushi doesn’t have the same benefits as straight up ginger root does. But it’s still delicious!
To get the entire effect and full benefits ginger has to offer, you want to make sure to use ginger root. You can find it at your local grocer in the produce section.
Some of the amazing benefits and medicinal properties ginger root has to offer are it relieves nausea, motion sickness, it’s an anti inflammatory and relieves pain, helps with bloating, its heart healthy, can help treat chronic conditions involving the digestive tract, helps with menstrual pain, helps lower cholesterol, may help prevent cancer, and so much more!
I make a pitcher of ginger water every week, and have a glass a day. I love it!
To make it, all you will need is ginger root, a lemon, and water…simple!
First you want to slice the skin off of the ginger root. Its ok if you don’t get all of it. We will strain the ginger water once its done and get rid of any loose pieces of skin.
Add your sliced ginger root into your pan with water. Cover and bring the water to a boil. Boil the water for about 15 minutes.
Your water will be nice and fragrant of ginger ones its done.
Take the pot off of the burner and set aside to cool for a bit before you strain it into your pitcher.
I used a Rubbermaid pitcher, but you can use whatever you would like to store the water in. As long as its fits the amount of water.
Once the water has cooled down a bit, you want to use a strainer to poor the water in so it catches any pieces of skin or ginger root.
Slice up your lemon into thin slices and add them to the water.
I prefer my ginger water to be cooled completely and chilled in the refrigerator before I enjoy it. I think it tastes better and more refreshing when its cold.
It is so easy to make, and cheap! If you are a fan of ginger, or even if you aren’t, you should give this a try! The lemon does help with the taste if you aren’t a fan of ginger.
You would think it would be very potent, but it really isn’t. It’s just a faint flavor of the ginger…but with all the benefits!
This water keeps up for a week. I am sure it lasts longer than a week, but I find that it tastes better when consumed with in a week after making it.
Enjoy my friends!!
