Peel skin off of ginger root, and cut up into skinny pieces.
Add 12 cups of water to a large sauce pan. Add cut up ginger.
Bring to a boil, and boil for 15 minutes.
Let water cool in pan before pouring it into pitcher.
Once the water has cooled a bit, use a strainer to catch any pieces of ginger root when pouring water into pitcher.
Add sliced lemon to pitcher.
Enjoy once it has cooled completely. I prefer it chilled with ice.
