Jalapeño Popper Mummies

These jalapeño popper mummies will be the stars of the show at your upcoming Halloween parties! Spooky and delicious in every bite!

Jalapeño poppers are a great appetizer to bring to parties. Halloween is coming up, and that means Halloween parties! These jalapeño popper mummies are adorable, and guaranteed to be a spooktacular hit!

I must warn you, before you read any further…this recipe is not for those who have no patience. As adorable as these guys look, they did take some time.

The hardest and most tedious part I would say was wrapping the dough around the jalapeños to make them look somewhat like mummies.

Just like any recipe using jalapeños, you should always wear gloves when handling them! Just think about it for a second. Your cutting up and pitting out a jalapeño pepper, wash your hands, but then go to itch your eye ball, or anywhere on your face. Ouch!

I call it the jalapeño burn. Its an actual thing, and they say to use rubbing alcohol along with hot water and soap to get most of the burn off of the skin of your hands.

Ok, let’s get back to that crescent dough. Like I said, that was the most tedious and time consuming part. Along with placing the cut up black beans in between for eyeballs. But we will talk about that in a bit!

In my head, I imagined these guys to look way better than they came out, to be completely honest. I imagined the dough to be in perfect wraps, and the eyeballs to look perfect.

But as I kept looking at them more and more, I realized they look better being imperfect than perfect. they have a more spookier look! And they all have a different and unique look. Not every one is the same!

They are so cute, you almost fell bad eating them!

Enjoy!

Jalapeño Popper Mummies

Course Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 8-10 Jalapeños
  • 8 oz. Block Of Cream Cheese, room temperature
  • 1 pkg. Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
  • 1 Can Of Black Beans you dont need alot so you will have left overs
  • 1 Green Onion or Scallion, finely chopped
  • 1 Cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°
  • Wash jalapeños, and slice in half the long way trying to keep stems on. Deseed and hollow out each jalapeño half.
  • Place on a baking sheet skin side down. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, add your cream cheese, cheddar cheese , chopped up scallion and salt. Mix together until well combined.
  • Fill each jalapeño half with cream cheese mixture. This part got a little messy for me, but thats ok!
  • When each jalapeño half is filled, take out crescent roll dough and divide into four rectangles. Press together the perforated seems.
  • Using a pizza slicer, slice dough length wise into skinny strips.
  • Wrap each jalapeño half with two slices of dough. Wrapping it around like a mummy wrap. MAKE SURE TO LEAVE ROOM FOR THE EYES.
  • In a small bowl, beat your egg and brush top of dough on each jalapeño with egg wash.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until dough turns a nice dark golden brown.
  • While your poppers are baking, prepare your black beans for the eyeballs. Cut a small piece off of each end of each black bean. You will need about 30-40 pieaces of black bean ends.
  • When poppers are done, immediately press black beans into spaced area for the eyes. They don't have to be perfect. I think they look better and spookier if they aren't perfect!
  • Enjoy!!
