Lemon Drop Martini

This lemon drop martini is the best you will ever have! It literally tastes like a liquid lemon drop! Sweet, sour and refreshing! So easy to make, using simple cocktail ingredients!

I love me a good martini. Lately I’ve been obsessed with lemon drop martinis! Oh, and espresso martinis…but thats a different post for another day!

There have been a few times where I’ve ordered a lemon drop martini at a bar/restaurant. They just sound so good and refreshing! Well, unfortunately, every martini I got, was not as good as it sounded. It was either too strong, too sweet, not enough sweet, not enough tart, and just not good.

When you think of a lemon drop martini, you think of the candy, lemon drops! Or at least I do. I imagine this delicious, refreshing cocktail that is sweet, sour, tangy and dangerous! And when I say dangerous…I mean you cant taste the alcohol! Thats my kinda martini!

Now, I don’t know about you, but when it comes to making cocktails at home, I like a nice simple recipe that doesn’t include a bunch of fancy liquors or ingredients.

I also like to use alternatives to simple syrup. I try and stay away from refined sugars as much as I can! My go to alternative is liquid honey! It’s so easy to make.

It’s literally just equal parts of honey, and warm water. Simple!

Not to be biased, but this is the best lemon drop martini you will probably have. Its definitely my favorite! But I guess it depends where you go out for drinks. A lot of bars will use simple syrup, and not freshly squeezed lemon.

It just makes a huge difference using those certain ingredients!

Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  

• 2 oz. plain vodka
• 1/2 oz. triple sec
• 1 tsp honey
• 1 tsp warm water
• juice from half of a lemon
• lemon peel for twist (garnish)

Method

 

1. Fill shaker with ice.
2. In a small bowl, mix together your honey and warm water until honey is completely dissolved. Set aside.
3. Before cutting your lemon in half, take a sharp knife and carefully cut a strip of lemon peel for your twist/garnish. Set aside.
4. Cut lemon in half, and squeeze half of the lemon into your shaker.
5. Add your vodka to shaker.
   
6. Add triple sec to shaker.
   
7. Add all of liquid honey.
   
8. Cover shaker and shake for a good 20 seconds.
9. Pour drink into a martini glass. Take your lemon peel and twist over drink to express the oils for even more flavor! Place twist on the side of glass or in drink.
   
10. Enjoy!!
