The name “muddy buddy crispy clusters” pretty much speaks for itself!

Rice Krispy cereal is mixed with this delicious mixture of melted chocolate and peanut butter, dropped into clusters by the spoonful, and coated with powdered sugar. It’s a delicious twist on the original muddy buddies using Chex mix cereal.

Muddy Buddies are one of those snacks that I absolutely love, but never take the time to make. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever made muddy buddies now that I think of it.

A lot of desserts are either super sweet, super heavy, and just make you feel like poo after. Not these guys! They are light, airy and just the right amount of sweet!

I have to say, coating them with the powdered sugar was pretty fun, and easy! It would be a fun recipe to make with kiddos!

I’m all about a no bake recipe, especially in the summer. Who wants to deal with a hot stove when its hot outside?! Not this gal…

I have a few more, no bake recipes on my blog. Like this one, for no bake s’mores bars…which are FANTASTIC! https://thehungrylyoness.com/no-bake-smores-bars/

If you make this recipe, I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 40 minutes
Course Dessert
Servings 12 clusters

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter I used jif
  • 5 cups rice krispy cereal
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter in 30 second intervals, mixing in between every 30 seconds until everything is smooth and melted.
  • Add the rice krispy cereal to a large mixing bowl, pour melted chocolate and peanut butter all over cereal, and mix until well and evenly coated.
  • On a lined baking sheet, drop heaping spoonfuls of mixture. I used a cookie/ice cream scoop so the clusters stayed together.
  • Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to set up.
  • When clusters are hard and set up, place in a large ziplock freezer bag, and add powdered sugar.
  • Shake bag to coat clusters evenly with powdered sugar.
  • Keep chilled until ready to serve.
  • Enjoy!
