Healthy Slow Cooker Orange Chicken

This healthy slow cooker orange chicken is nice and tender, with that nice traditional sweet and tangy orange flavor.

Healthy slow cooker orange chicken recipe is the perfect option if you are craving that typical orange chicken you would get for Chinese takeout. I get it…chinese takeout is super fast, and delicious. Especially on a week night when you have no energy or time to cook.

Preparing this recipe is just as fast as driving to your favorite Chinese takeout place, getting out of your car, walking into the restaurant, paying way more money than you would spend on making this meal, and driving back home.

If you have atleast 10 minutes (at most) in the morning to prepare this recipe, thats the only time you will need! Or, you could always prepare it the night before, put everything in your crockpot dish (or a large bowl if your crockpot dish doesn’t fit in your fridge), and keep it in the fridge. Take it out in the morning, put it in your crockpot and you’re golden! Not to mention…the taste of this chicken is insane! It tastes just like your typical orange chicken…just without the disturbing amount of fat and calories.

All you need for this recipe are 5 simple ingredients. Chicken cut up into bite size pieces, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, orange marmalade and BBQ sauce.

You want to make sure to cut your chicken up into cubes. After all, original orange chicken is in bite size pieces, usually.

All you literally have to do is dump every single ingredient in your slow cooker, turn your cooker on, and your job is done!

Of course you want to mix everything around to combine, just to help the cooking process.

Turn your cooker on low heat, and make sure it is covered tightly.

Your house will start to smell amazing within the first hour. Thats one of my favorite parts about using my slow cooker, other than the taste…I love how my home smells mouthwatering delicious!

Your chicken will turn a nice deep brown color. Thats good, you’ll want that. It doesn’t mean your chicken is burnt. It means your chicken is nice and tender, and will have an amazing hearty taste!

I apologize for these last couple photos. Unfortunantley I had to use my flash due to it being late at night. I didn’t have the beautiful natural light that I usually have to make my photos look more appealing. BUT…here it is! I served mine with some steamed broccoli. You can serve yours over rice if you’d like, or your favorite vegetable.

Enjoy!!
