Crockpot season has arrived! With the cold weather and shorter days coming, slow cooked meals are the perfect option for dinner.
When daylight savings time ends, and we turn the clocks back…it can be depressing! It gets darker earlier, and by the time you get out of work, or home from picking up the kids, or running errands, its dark…and your brain is thinking its time for bed, when it’s really time to cook dinner.
Slow cooked meals are a life saver this time of the year. There are so many recipes out there for slow cooked dinner meals, it can be overwhelming.
Some have a lot of prep work, which to me defeats the purpose of a slow cooker. They are supposed to make your life easier, and do most of the work for you.
This recipe is so delicious, and easy. It has very little prep work. It will leave your house smelling amazing for you when you walk in the door, and your family will love it!
Or, if you are just cooking for you and a significant other, you will have left overs. Perfect!
All you need for this recipe is a package of chicken sausage, vegetables, and some spices. It’s so simple and healthy!
Two of my most favorite vegetables to add to a slow cooked meal are potatoes and carrots. They taste so good when slow cooked. And the soft tender texture they give off makes them taste even better!
The flavors that the onions, celery and leeks give off when slow cooked is what makes the entire meal. The flavors are incredible!
I used Al Fresco’s roasted pepper and asiago chicken sausage, but you can use whatever type of chicken sausage you want. If you aren’t a fan of chicken sausage, then use another type of sausage. You can alter the recipe to your liking if need be.
Enjoy!!
