I couldn’t wait to post this recipe. I am still mind blown and in shock. This recipe tastes JUST like a store bought chocolate hazelnut spread.
The consistency is exactly the same. It turns thick, then when you stir it, it loosens up. If you are a true chocolate hazelnut spread fan, you know what I’m talking about.
I am in no way hating on the store bought brands. I am still a huge fan. Sometimes you just want to try making one of your favorite foods for yourself, without the added ingredients that aren’t necessary.
Let’s be honest here…the stars of the show are the hazelnuts. I don’t think I have ever purchased hazelnuts. Not to eat or bake with. I actually had a hard time finding a decent sized bag of raw hazelnuts. Luckily, I finally found them at Trader Joes.
When you roast hazelnuts, something magical happens. They smell AMAZING, and the taste is 10 times better.
I’m sure alot of you already know that, but like I said… I am a hazelnut newbie.
With this recipe calling for only 6 ingredients…it may be your new chocolate hazelnut spread.
This is how easy it is to make…
Add your roasted hazelnuts to a food blender or processor. Puree them for about 5 minutes, until they turn into a smooth and creamy butter.
I was shocked when I witnessed for myself that a bunch of nuts pureed for 5 minutes turns into a beautiful creamy butter. Amazing.
Then you add your cocoa powder, confectioners sugar, salt and vanilla extract.
Been and puree for another 5 minutes. If you have a tiny food blender like I do, you may have to stop here and there to scrape the sides to help things get blended.
Blend, blend, blend, puree, puree, puree….and then, lo and be hold…you get a gorgeous, chocolatey, creamy hazelnut spread!
The moment you take your spatula, dip it in and try it, your eyes will widen, and you’ll dig in for more, your eyes will widen even more, and you will say something along the lines of “omg” or “holy s#$%”. Because it is that good.
I will proudly enjoy mine with a spoon. Thats all I need. A nice, big golden spoon.
I carefully poured mine into a mason jar. You can keep yours in anything you’d like really. As long as its sealed up somehow. It keeps soft, thanks to the vegetable oil and natural oils from the hazelnuts.
It should keep for a week or two!
Enjoy!!!!
