Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers

These Hawaiian teriyaki burgers are juicy, sweet and savory! Homemade burgers using lean beef, grilled to perfection. Topped with a sweet teriyaki sauce and pineapple slice!

Ingredients
  

For The Burgers

  • lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup scallions, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • fresh or canned pineapple slices
  • buns of choice
  • lettuce leaves

For Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions
 

For Burgers

  • In a large bowl, add ground beef, scallions, ground gingers, soy sauce and sriracha. Mix until everything is combined.
  • Form into 4 equal patties. Set aside on plate.

For Teriyaki Sauce

  • In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water. Mix until starch is dissolved. Set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, mix together soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, ground ginger and garlic powder. Over medium-low heat, bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Add cornstarch water mixture and simmer until thick. About 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook Burgers

  • Heat grill. When hot, clean grates and spray with oil.
  • Place patties on the grill and cook on high heat for about 5-7 minutes, per side, or until cooked to your liking.
  • Grill pineapple slices for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • To serve, place lettuce leaf on bun, then add burger. Pour some teriyaki sauce on top of burger, top with pineapple.
  • Enjoy!
