Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers

These Hawaiian teriyaki burgers are juicy, sweet and savory! Homemade burgers using lean beef, grilled to perfection. Topped with a sweet teriyaki sauce and pineapple slice!

Ingredients
  

For The Burgers
  • lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup scallions, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • fresh or canned pineapple slices
  • buns of choice
  • lettuce leaves
For Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Method
 

For Burgers
  1. In a large bowl, add ground beef, scallions, ground gingers, soy sauce and sriracha. Mix until everything is combined.
  2. Form into 4 equal patties. Set aside on plate.
For Teriyaki Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water. Mix until starch is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, mix together soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, ground ginger and garlic powder. Over medium-low heat, bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add cornstarch water mixture and simmer until thick. About 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Cook Burgers
  1. Heat grill. When hot, clean grates and spray with oil.
  2. Place patties on the grill and cook on high heat for about 5-7 minutes, per side, or until cooked to your liking.
  3. Grill pineapple slices for about 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. To serve, place lettuce leaf on bun, then add burger. Pour some teriyaki sauce on top of burger, top with pineapple.
  5. Enjoy!
