100% pure maple syrup is a great alternative for a sweetener rather than sugar. It is healthier than refined sugars. It is a natural sugar, and contains fewer calories and a higher concentration of minerals versus refined sugars. That is why its important to use 100% maple syrup for this recipe, and not a maple syrup that isn't 100% pure and may have added sugar to it, and other artificial ingredients.
